So the dramatic twists and turns of the green light saga continue. Here is a photo I captured last night. I suppose the effect of the green is best observed when it is daylight but I am a shy person…what if the house owners saw me, right? But the thing about this particular home is that the blinds are always closed and down, I have never been able to see inside the house although I have biked on by a multitude of times during various hours of the day. Two particular cars some and go from the house and occasionally there is a very nice road bike parked outside by the porch.
I basically monitor the house for minute changes and clues that may lead me closer to an answer about the green light. Some folks have asked me “Julia, why not simply go up and knock on the door and ask the people what their green light means.” This could lead me directly to an answer. I would also have to face the fear of stranger conversations initiated by me of all people.
It would also ruin the mystique of the green light. I am mesmerized by this wonderful mystery. It is so simple and unobtrusive that in some ways I wish it remains unknown. I want….oh no. OH OH NO!
I have at this moment of writing just received a text from the glorious glorious Em hughes.
She wrote to me, verbatim, “i think it’s a walmart campaign! google ‘green light a vet’ i think that’s it.”
I am so sad to say I think she is correct. The mystery is over.
Should I just stop talking?
My obsession has now just morphed into a crazy capitalistic company (CCC) trying to get people to buy their green light bulbs to support veterans in our country but also so that the CCC looks good and makes MORE money. I hate it and I am ok with it. Veterans are important to appreciate but walmart is lame. We should not forget that fact. I suppose we can appreciate the nuance?
